Well it's hard to believe it but tonight is a meet the teachers at school so I have to go with my baby who's starting 7th grade. *bawls* I'm not quite ready for this. Do you ever get ready? She'll be 13 in October :) We will have 3 teenagers! I will be accepting all forms of alcoholic gifts from you guys to help numb me. LOL

*hugs everyone*

*passing a case of Jack Daniels AND Crown Royal*

Don't drink it all at once. *hugs*

Oh wow I might not even mix with anything just drink straight out of the bottle. *hugs back*

If you can drink it straight...?

When I drink them, I like them as a splash (okay, more like three splashes) in a glass with ginger ale.

If you've not tried it, Gentleman Jack Daniels is really good, too. As is Crown Royal...Reserve, I think it's called. :)

I've tried Jack before I once got so drumk from it mixed I started guzzling it from the bottle. That made for a awful morning. LOL!

What age do children start school where you are? I ask because my grandson is starting year 7 at senior school next month.. and he's just turned 11. They grow so quickly don't they!

How about a nice glass or two of chilled white wine :)
lijahloverlijahlover on August 11th, 2009 05:58 am (UTC)
Well they start at age 4 or 5 and graduate fron High School at 17 or 18 years old.

She's in Middle school right now. And thanks for some white wine :)

Awww. That must be hard! I think back on my mom watching us leave home, and she was so brave about it. I'm not sure I'd be so brave.

I'm hoping this year is wonderful for you and your baby. *hugs*

Lol. My first just turned 21. I am so grateful at how she has morphed. She is engaged to her HS sweetheart since 15. So its been 5.5 years. They are planning to marry in 2011. We thought we would NEVER survive 14 with her. It was so horrible.
Now our middle is going to HS. She is 14.
We have a son, Noah, he is 9, in 4th. oh boy. We've been married 30years.
I will say 7th grade is a hotbed of change. Puberty is flaring in all directions, and not just your child. All you can do is watch her and her friends. She is as much a part in what happens as they are. Right or wrong.
hugs you xoxoxoxo v

No, no, this is great! Here's a new perspective for ya, if you like: my BF's kids are 15 and 13 (when I met them they were 8 and 7). And I'm enjoying them a lot more now because I don't have to censor myself so much around them, or watch as many halfass kiddie flicks--I GET TO SHOW THEM HORROR MOVIES NOW! And I don't have to feel like I should do some kind of penance if I let the occasional expletive slip (evidently their parents are much more conservative than mine; my father was dropping f-bombs around me when I was 3). Believe me, it's not going to be as bad as you think. Just don't try to be cooler or more on it than them, be impressed with what they THINK they know without gushing and embarrassing them, give them credit for being able to think like adults once in a while, and you're in. I know the whole sex/ drugs trip can sound like a miasma, but you just have to work around it. One way is to not act scandalized by the fact that they want to stay out a little later and have a good time--and make them check in with you, especially if there's a change of plan. If they don't check in, then you get to lecture them.

*Hugs* You'll do fine! I've utmost faith in you!
